Our Story

Named after my two grandmothers, Freida Mo’s is a place for the extraordinary.

Step inside our wonderland and get lost in a sea of positivity, vintage treasure, colour … and cake!

Opening day, St Patrick’s Day 2018

“I made the conscious decision to open on St Patrick's Day 2018 to bring in all the luck of my distant Irish heritage and it just so happened to be a full moon for extra good karma!”

Setting up shop!

It was an easy decision to open Freida Mo’s, almost like it was meant to be. For years I had been working within the industry and helping others to ‘set up shop’.

2018 was my time!

With no guidelines and no rules I embraced my creativity, working day and night to transform the shop into the riot of colour you see today. Willing friends and my supportive, handy and enthusiastic family helped me get the doors open and Freida Mo’s hit the ground running.

I worked solo for the first eight months, before welcoming my fabulous and loyal friend Gemma (see the Freidettes Journal entry) as my first full-time employee. With her support, we were able to turn what was a small local shop into one of Liverpool’s best-loved destinations - a community hub as well as a boutique - and it makes me feel proud every day. When you pop in it’s worth talking to Gemma about her first day, which was in fact a wedding in the shop for a homeless couple I’d befriended … it’s a cracking story! (read it in the journal now)

Now a mini family, we do our utmost to make people smile; aside from health & safety, the only training I give is

‘When someone comes in the most important part of your job is to make them feel happy and safe, the rest will take care of itself’.

That’s exactly what we do!

In October 2019 we punched a hole in the wall, doubled the floor space of the shop and built a ‘Yarden’ stage. The open Yarden’ is used for tranquil coffee vibes in the daytime and live events of the evening (see performance page for videos) making the space we have built together vibrant and ever-evolving.

The shop is growing and changing daily and anyone who has seen us organically grow will agree that the best is yet to come ….
